[ARCHIVED] Water Valve Repair to Reduce Lanes on M-53 Beginning 10-03-2017

The City of Marlette will be coordinating the replacement of several broken and/or leaking water valves at the intersections of Main Street (M-53) and Morris Street and of Morris Street and Wilson Street.  This work is tentatively planned for October 3rd through 6th, weather depending.

Northbound traffic on Main Street (M-53) will be shifted to the center turn-lane for approximately one block around Morris Street.  Traffic on Main Street (M-53) will not be able to turn east on Morris Street during construction.

Properties along M-53, Morris Street, and Wilson Street may experience a temporary disruption in water service, which could result in low or no water pressure at times as contractors work to replace valves.  Letters were mailed on September 28 to individual property owners that may be affected.

The purpose of the project is to ensure the City has the ability to isolate sections of water main along M-53 in the event of an emergency such as a water main break.  The City is completing this work proactively where it can plan for the disruption, rather than wait for an emergency where it would be much more disruptive without the ability to isolate sections of water main.

Thank you for your patience as we work to bring these improvements to the water distribution system in this area.
