City of Marlette to Host "First Impressions" Community Forum

The City of Marlette invites community members to an exciting opportunity to learn about the strengths and weaknesses of the community as seen through the eyes of first time visitors.

Earlier this year, the City of Marlette was successful in applying for the First Impressions program offered by Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) and the I-69 Thumb Regional Prosperity Initiative. Four tourism evaluators from MSUE came to Marlette on unannounced visits this summer to evaluate the community as a tourist. The results and recommendations of their visit will be shared during an evening forum.

The forum will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Marlette Elementary School Media Center. Tri-County Bank will provide light refreshments. The event is free to attend. While registration is not required, it is requested that attendees register online at https://events.anr.msu.edu/FIT/.

The community forum will offer all of those with a stake in Marlette’s future a chance to review existing strengths and opportunities to improve the community. Community leaders will be present to hear results, listen to suggestions, and guide next steps.  The City of Marlette will receive $2,000 from the I-69 Thumb Regional Prosperity Initiative to implement action items that improve the community’s image for tourism.

Accommodations for persons with disabilities may be requested by contacting MSU Extension at 810-989- 6935 within two weeks of the event to make arrangements. Requests received after this date will be fulfilled when possible.

For more information, please contact City Manager Corey Schmidt at 989-635-7451 or manager@cityofmarlette.com.
